How long before a user is logged out due to inactivity?

This duration, in minutes, is set by your Database Administrator (DBA), or someone with access to make changes directly on the server.

If that describes you, here are the instructions to modify this value:

  1. Locate your web.config file (located in the root folder)
  2. If you haven’t already, you can do a search and replace for the term SESSION_TIMEOUT_MINUTES
  3. If you have already modified the setting (and therefore you can’t find the term SESSION_TIMEOUT_MINUTES) you can search for the sessionState entry and modify the timeout attribute.

It should look something like this (for a timeout value of 20 minutes):

<sessionState mode="InProc" timeout="20" />
